I am going to be up front with everyone. There is most likely going to be a lot of Senator Rand Paul (SRP) on here at least for the foreseeable future. You have been warned.

For once I have to agree with them.

You agree with McCain? So you are pro-unrestricted-drone and anti-bill of rights and would rather not attention be brought on President Obama and the DOJ for their words and actions? Code Pink and other non-violent types have a different view. McCain, is some one who I admire and have supported in the past. He has slowly and sadly fallen from the "maverick" if he was ever really one. He sees himself as a senior statesman of the GOP, which today means he is tits on a bull. He has no power, no good ideas, and no desire to do his job. That is why more people from both sides are talking about and supporting Rand Paul then John McCain. You are free to agree with whom ever you like, and I am glad you contribute on this blog. Otherwise it would be just me talking to myself.
ReplyDeleteAs I see it there was no issue "brought to light" as the issue was already being discussed and Mr. Holder's first letter addressed it. There was a matter of semantics with scrutinizing the letter. Regardless the second letter didn't resolve anything because it still states that drones can be used if it's an issue of combat as the first letter said.
ReplyDeleteTrav,
ReplyDeleteWould you have been happy with that same answer from a Bush/Cheney Whitehouse? Will you be ok with that answer from a (insert evil 2016 hard core GOP person here) president? I was not having these types of conversations with you in say 2004-2006, were you ok with the torture memos and the wire taps with out warrants then? This is a little bigger than that. No one was being killed from those polices then, 100s maybe 1000s have died under this president and this policy. Isn't that worth talking about? Isn't that worth bring attention to? I think it is more than just semantics. No one was questioning if the President could use a drone in a 9/11 type scenario. They were asking if they could use them as they do overseas. To drone to death people while they are not engaged or even suspected of wrong doing against Americans or others. That is what he IS doing and that is what Rand Paul was asking. I guess you are ok with the Obama and DOJ letter. And you will be ok with future presidents, Nobel Peace Prize or not using the same standard to pacify you. I, and many others, on both sides, are not.
